Alexis Dubois transcribes in images the scars of past memories and souvenirs. His paintings are specific snapshots of an emancipated youth, reflections of events and occurrences which have followed him up to present times.
At fifteen journeying on his own, he decides to leave behind his low income neighbourhood from a small provincial town in the South of France and head out to Paris, the city he often refers to as his “mother and his whore”.
Using children like flat figurines and rigid volumes where ghostly silhouettes and ultra sensibility as seen through the eyes of the young innocent intertwine, Alexis’ paintings are torn pages from his past experiences and a therapeutic outpouring.
Having graduated with a Masters in Fashion studies from one of the most prestigious Art institution in France, Alexis has worked with some of the most renowned and established personalities in the Haute Couture world, such as Alber Elbaz designer for Lanvin. His experience in the street with the graffiti and in the fashion makes a mix between the rough and the ultra sensibility.
His rough upbringing make him a striking artist with compelling stories to share….
